At one level it is possible to see that we have only two relationships to deal with in our professional lives: The one with ourselves and the one with everyone else.
Most focus is placed on the relationship with everyone else. This is the area that gets most organisational and HR attention.
However challenging, how we relate to others is relatively straightforward in comparison to how we relate to ourselves. I suspect that this is why it is an area where relatively little attention is paid within organisations.
Yet, until we improve our understanding of how we work with ourselves, only working with external relationships is a bit like re-arranging the furniture in your house when you actually want to move. It may feel different for a while, but you are still in the same place.
